The September 13, 2004 Town Council meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m.
by Jack McArdle, Town Council President. Present were Jack McArdle, Larry
Armstrong, and Anthony Kraus, Town Council, Richard Lehman, Town Marshal, Don
Stuckey, Town Attorney, and Virginia Nye. Jack McArdle introduced and welcomed
Tony Kraus, the new council member. Forty-four guests signed the register.
The minutes of the August 9 Council meeting were read. Larry Armstrong made a
motion to accept the minutes as corrected, second by Tony Kraus, and the motion
carried. Tony Kraus made a motion to approve the Voucher Register for the months
of July and August, second by Larry Armstrong, and the motion carried.
Richard Lehman gave the Marshal’s report for the period August 14 to September
13. Tony Kraus made the motion to accept the report, Larry Armstrong seconded,
and the motion passed.
Jack McArdle introduced Bruce Snyder, the new zoning director. Snyder reported
that he had issued 6 permits, all for garages. He also placed a stop work order
for work at 430 Lake Drive. There will be a Board of Zoning Appeals meeting on
Tuesday, September 28. At this meeting there will be two variance requests
heard. Both variance requests are for garages. Larry Armstrong moved approval of
the report, second by Tony Kraus, and the motion carried.
Don Stuckey reported that he has been unable to contact the bonding company in
the Geiger lawsuit, but he plans to contact them on Tuesday.
Jack McArdle reported that 334 sewers are connected, 59 additional permits have
been issued, and 170 sewer permits are yet to be issued.
Paul Federspiel gave an Island Study Committee report. The price of the island
has three components: federal tax credit; private funding; and public funds. The
town has six to nine months to reach a decision on this matter. They expect to
be talking through the winter. Regarding the question of possible grant
availability, the outlook is not encouraging.
NEW BUSINESS
The Nuclear Waste Committee of Ohio and Indiana is dissolving and has funds that
they are distributing to 501C3 organizations. $1,000 of those funds came from
the Town of Clear Lake that can be distributed to the Clear Lake Township Land
Conservancy, a 501C3 organization. Tony Kraus made a motion to direct the funds
to the Conservancy, second by Larry Armstrong, and the motion carried.
At 7:35 p.m., Larry Armstrong made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Tony Kraus
seconded, and the motion passed.
