Minutes of the January 9, 2006 Town Council Meeting

The January 9, 2006 Town Council meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Jack McArdle, President. Also present were Larry Armstrong and Tony Kraus, Councilmen, Virginia Nye, Clerk Treasurer, Bruce Snyder, Zoning Inspector, and Bob Hull, Town Superintendent. Twenty people signed the guest register.

The minutes of the December 12, 2005 Town Council minutes were read by Virginia Nye. Tony Kraus moved approval of the minutes, Larry Armstrong seconded, and the motion passed.

Virginia Nye gave the financial report for the month of December. (Note – General Fund numbers are updated from totals noted in December. Corrected report is attached.)

Warrants needing approval by the Board total $209,993.31. Of that amount $194,031.33 was principal and interest payment on the sewer loan. Larry Armstrong moved approval, Tony Kraus seconded and the motion passed.

Jack McArdle announced that Donald J. Stuckey, town attorney, has resigned due to a conflict with the Steuben County meetings he is scheduled to attend. He expressed the appreciation of the Council for all of Don’s work. Tony Kraus was appointed to chair the search for an attorney for the town.

The Marshal’s report and Fremont Fire Department reports were discussed.

Bruce Snyder reported that two Improvement Location Permits and one demolition permit were issued during the last month. He also reported the results of the BZA meeting held on December 19. On December 20 the Board of Zoning Appeals held its continued hearing of the Dan Hoagland appeal of the issuance of ILP 1424 to Dr. and Mrs. James Nevin. The Board denied the appeal on all 16 issues.

Bob Hull reported on the meeting with David Koenig and Nathan Cole from Region 3-A concerning the possibility of updating the town’s comprehensive plan. There was great interest and we are awaiting a cost estimate from Region 3-A. He also reported that the survey for property for the town hall is complete and ready to send to Don Stuckey.

Larry Armstrong moved approval on all reports, Tony Kraus seconded, and the motion passed.

Bob Hull has the bids on the demolition of 1030 Lake Drive. Bids were as follows:
    M&C Trenching $4,800
    Sullins Excavating $5,700
    3 States Excavating $5,500

M&C Trenching had the low bid and was awarded the job.

In the election of Council officers for the year 2006, Jack McArdle was elected President and Larry Armstrong was elected vice-president.

At 7:35 p.m. Larry Armstrong made a motion to adjourn, Tony Kraus seconded, and the motion passed.
