MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 10, 2007 TOWN COUNCIL MEETING
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Jack McArdle, Council President. Also present at the meeting were Larry Armstrong, Council, Virginia Nye, Clerk Treasurer, Bob Hull, Town Superintendent and Erik Weber, Town Attorney.
The minutes of the August 13 meeting were read by Virginia Nye and approved with one wording change. Larry Armstrong moved approval, Jack McArdle seconded and the motion passed.
Virginia Nye gave the financial report.. They included the Expense Voucher Register and Warrants to be Approved. Larry Armstrong moved approval, Jack McArdle seconded and the motion passed.
The Marshal’s report was given by Larry Armstrong. He also reported that the Fire Department had 42 calls last month, and only one call was in Clear Lake.
Bruce Snyder issued 9 Improvement Location Permits. These include house additions, new houses, new garages, and a new deck.
Bob Hull reported that around noon on August 14 during routine maintenance, a sewer valve in the main sewer line broke. M&C Trenching and Dilts Sewer Service were able to have the system back in service by 11:30 p.m. at a cost in excess of $8,500. The street contracts are being signed tonight for the 2007 street work.
Laura Farquhar reported on the status of the garbage receipts as well as the transition of the billing for the sewer accounts. The town plans to take over the sewer billing on January 1. She plans to issue coupon books for a two-year period.
Larry Armstrong made a motion to accept the reports, Jack McArdle seconded and the motion passed.
OLD BUSINESS
The litigation report by Erik Weber was followed by audience discussion.
NEW BUSINESS
Larry Armstrong made the motion to approve the API bid of $79,517 for the road repairs, Jack McArdle seconded, and the motion passed.
Larry Armstrong made the motion to send a statement on the town’s decision to retain the sewer reserve account since the funds are currently retained in interest bearing CDs. Jack seconded the motion, and the motion passed.
RESOLUTION 08-2007. RESOLUTION ELECTING TO ENLARGE PARTICIPA-TION IN THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT FUND. Larry Armstrong made the motion to approve, Jack McArdle seconded, and the motion passed.
A painting by Hymie Geiger was purchased by Ellen Newcomer at the recent auction and was donated to the town to be hung in the town hall building. There were expressions of appreciation from many in the audience.
At 8:30 p.m. Larry Armstrong made the motion to adjourn, Jack seconded and the motion passed.
