MEETING MINUTES

MINUTES OF THE MARCH 9, 2009 COUNCIL MEETING

The meeting of the Town Council was called to order at 8:35 p.m. by Bob Lewis. Present also were Sue Williams and George Schenkel, Council members, Virginia Nye, Clerk, Bob Hull, Superintendent, and Bruce Snyder, Zoning Inspector. Neal Blythe, Town Attorney, was also present. Nine people signed the guest register.

Minutes of the February 16, 2009 Council Meeting were read and approved, upon a motion by George Schenkel, and second by Sue Williams.
The financial report was given by Virginia Nye. The February financial report included the following expenses: General Fund $31,412.70, Garbage Fund $4,423.29, and Sewer Fund $23,499.48 for a total of $59,335.47. The warrants to be approved totaled $24,480.86.

REPORTS

George Schenkel read Marshal Gonya’s report , which includes two unsecured premises, three assists for the county, one property damage crash and 2 VIN checks. His report also includes information about Marine Patrol and police patrol for the summer. The Marine Patrol will have someone on the lake on one or both of the weekend days and our police patrol will provide patrol when the Marine Patrol is off the lake.

Bruce Snyder, Zoning Inspector, reported that there were no Improvement Location Permits issued during February. He did issue one Improvement Location Permit for Dave Harris, 253 Lake Drive, to enclose the area under the deck.

Bob Hull reported that they had a couple of busy days plowing snow. Then the weather improved for the month. He reported that one of the big lift station pumps was rebuilt last month at a cost of $3,282.69. Bill Geiger has a cost estimate of $2,500 to $3,000 for the overhead crane system for the sewer maintenance building. Bob requested permission from the Council to have the crane installed.
Bob also reported that Neal has prepared and advertised for trash bids – one bid for trash and recycling only and one bid for trash, recycling and yard waste. Bids are due on March 13th at 4 p.m. and will be awarded at a special meeting on March 16th at 8:30 a.m.
Bob attended an economic recovery meeting on February 27th in Fort Wayne. Bob had already submitted an application for $940,000 to resurface all of the streets within the town. He also offered to submit a request for street resurfacing funds through State Senators Dennis Kruse and Marlin Stutzman.

OLD BUSINESS

Neal Blythe reported on the pending litigation before the town.

NEW BUSINESS

Discussion on the Unified Ordinance Development was postponed.
Garbage bids will be opened on March 16. The proposal will include yard waste pickup for the period, March – December.

The next Council meeting is scheduled for April 8.

At 9:05 p.m. Sue Williams made the motion to adjourn, George Schenkel seconded, and the motion passed.
