MINUTES OF THE MARCH 16, 2009 SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

OPENING OF SANITATION BIDS

The meeting of the Town Council was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by Bob Lewis. Present also were George Schenkel and Sue Williams, Council members, Virginia Nye, Clerk, and Bob Hull, Superintendent. Matt Day, Operations Manager for Coldwater/Marshal Division of Republic Waste Services, was also present.

The first action of the meeting was the opening of Garbage Bids. Only one bid for garbage service was received. The bid was from Republic Waste Services, the current contractor. The bid was for $4,376 per month for the summer season (April-November). The bid quoted for the rest of the year (8 months) was $2,476 per month. The land fill cost is the reason for the increase in price for the summer months. Total contract was $72,320.

No action was taken on the bid.

Ordinance 2009-1. First Reading. Ordinance Regulating the Removal of Weeds and Other Rank Vegetation. Following discussion, George Schenkel made the motion to approve, Sue Williams seconded, and the motion passed.

Ordinance 2009-2. First Reading. An Ordinance Defining the Penalty for Failing to Connect to the Clear Lake Sewerage System. Following discussion, George Schenkel made the motion to approve, Sue Williams seconded, and the motion passed.

Following discussion, George Schenkel made the motion to adjourn, Sue Williams seconded, and the motion passed.
