Roles & Responsibilities

Listed below are some, not all, of the roles and responsibilities of the Street & Sewer Superintendent:


  • Perform a variety of maintenance duties, with an emphasis on the Town’s force main and grinder pump sewer system.
  • Inspects the equipment for mechanical problems and sees that these problems are corrected.
  •  Patches street blacktop or concrete.
  • Communicates effectively with the public and other town employees.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, buildings and vehicles.
  • Clear town roadways, leaf collection services and sewer related assignments.
  • Deal courteously and tactfully with the public in response to inquiries and complaints.
  • Makes periodic inspections of street and sewer systems and equipment.
  • Maintains work hour log to coincide with bi-weekly payroll requirements by clerk/treasurer.
  • Do plant check/reads, be on call every other week (after hours) including weekends and holidays.

Roles & Responsibilities

Listed below are some, not all, of the roles and responsibilities of the Street & Sewer Worker:


  • Perform a variety of maintenance duties as assigned, with an emphasis on the Town’s force main and grinder pump sewer system.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, buildings and vehicles as assigned.
  •  Performs a variety of general labor duties such as painting, mowing, weed spraying, brush and weed trimming, and general parks and street maintenance.
  •  Patches street blacktop or concrete.
  • Assist in clearing town roadways, leaf collection services and sewer related assignments.
  • Deal courteously and tactfully with the public in response to inquiries and complaints.
  • Makes periodic inspections of street and sewer systems and equipment as delegated by supervisor.
  • Maintains work hour log and submits to superintendent for approval to coincide with by-weekly payroll requirements by clerk/treasurer.
  • Provide backup for the superintendent as requested by the superintendent or as requested by the town council president, especially in the event of an emergency.
  • Do Plant Check/Reads, be on call every other week (after hours) including weekends and holidays.
